The eligibility criteria for all scholarships state that Must belong to the Turkish Cypriot community and/or Must be born in Cyprus or one of the parents must be born in Cyprus.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to offer Turkish Cypriots additional educational opportunities by raising their knowledge and/or increasing their skills in a specific field as well as a broaden their experience of studying and working in the European Union, thus bringing them closer to the EU.  Therefore Distance Learning, is not eligible as it does not meet the full objectives of the programme which are also to travel, and to study in an EU country.

On the question of language proficiency tests please see section 6 – Selection Procedure in the Guidelines for further information on the three stages of assessment. All applicants are required to take a language proficiency test irrespective of whether they already have a valid IELTS, and/or other EU language certification as they are competing in each category for the award of a limited number of scholarships.

The grant is a lump sum (15,000 Euro for Type A & B for EU countries other than ROC) contribution towards fees, accommodation and living expenses.   Type C & D grant is based on the number of months they choose to study.  The rate is 1420 Euro per month plus 800 Euro for travel for EU countries other than ROC. Students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation either through the university chosen or independently.

No, you will not be tested for English language proficiency if your study programme is in Italian. You will take the Italian language proficiency test.

The Guidelines state “Language proficiency tests in EU languages other than English will be provided for those applicants who wish to study a programme in an EU language other than English.

No.  As per section 6.1 of the Guidelines: ‘A General Ability Test in Turkish or English. It is expected that most applicants will complete the test in Turkish, however, applicants who do not have sufficient knowledge of Turkish or prefer to take it in English can choose to do it in English’.

It is not disadvantageous to take the General Ability Test in Turkish.

Since you are particularly interested in Short Term scholarships. Please read section 3.3 Short Term Programme (page 11) of the Guidelines and further information for both Type C and D programmes.  Please also see Section 3 where it clearly states:

If candidates are currently studying in Turkey or any other non-EU country, they can still make an application for the scholarship.

The first set of questions on the application will help establish your category and sub-category.  For example, if you are interested in a short term programme, then you will indicate that you are interested in courses that are 2-6 months in duration.  The targeted questions will prompt you and show the category and registration number.  You will then be lead to a screen to make the application and further provide your education and other personal details.

Please note that unless an application form is completed we do not provide information if a candidate is eligible or not, as the candidates input is required as well as documents as evidence of your education and personal history.
